On International Youth Day Aug 12, sheatwork encourages young women entrepreneurs to step up and roll out their businesses
It was in 1999 that the UN General Assembly had designated 12 August as the first International Youth Day. It’s an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change; it poses an opportunity to raise awareness about the problems and challenges that the world’s youth faces. It also focuses on the cultural and legal issues faced by youth throughout the world.
So, to recognize efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society, the United Nations’ (UN) International Youth Day is celebrated each year to promote ways to engage them and get them more actively involved – in making positive contributions to their communities.
The UN defines the worlds’ youth as the age group between 15 and 24 years old, and they constitute one-sixth of the human population. Many of these young men and women live in developing countries and their presence is expected to grow even further.
Now, more than ever, seems to be the right time to walk the untrodden path and start creating your own business. Decide and move into action.
