On this day, this question comes up – why do we celebrate National Education Day? To put it simply, National Education Day is an annual occasion in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India, who served from 15 August 1947 until 2 February 1958. National Education Day of India is celebrated on 11 November every year.

There were many credits that can be added to his name. During his tenure, the UGC, AICTE, Kharagpur Institute of Higher Education, the University Education Commission, and the Secondary Education Commission were set up. He also contributed to the establishment of educational institutes like –  Jamia Millia Islamia and IIT Kharagpur. To honour his efforts, the Ministry of Human Resource Development announced 11th November as ‘National Education Day’ in 2008. So, we respectfully remember his huge contribution in building the foundation of a strong education system in the country.

We all know about the importance that education plays in the life of any individual; and this is celebrated on this day. Awareness about the importance of education for all is spread on this day in the country, to create and nourish a more literate society that will work for the betterment of the nation.

The theme for National Education Day in 2022 is – “Changing Course, Transforming Education“. This theme calls for reforming the education system in India, to make it more adaptable to the changing times.

Adapting to changing times – to change course

At this point, we note how entrepreneurship is all about changing the course of people’s lives.
These startups (business ventures) have a commitment to transform an idea into profitable businesses. Women entrepreneurial development is one of the important areas most countries are focussed on, as a part of overall development. It is well ascertained by policy makers that strategic development of an economy requires equal participation, so that equal opportunities are offered to all sects and genders. Entrepreneurial development is one the significant factors for sustainable socio-economic development.

And, while transforming lives, entrepreneurs also have to pick up skills too. And, the ability to learn is one of the most important skills to have in entrepreneurship. If someone is building a business, the ability to learn is definitely required for success.

Considering the ups and downs an entrepreneur goes through, it is imperative that he or she needs a high ability to learn, and a desire to learn too. If a person is able to learn in any situation, even failures, then he or she can indeed become a successful entrepreneur. Failure is a great teacher – it can help expand one’s knowledge, along with understanding of business, and open up new opportunities.

While a successful entrepreneur has built a successful company, there are many skills needed  – like  effective communication skills, sales skills, a keen ability to learn, an entrepreneur can actually learn and perfect a business strategy that can take the business to scale new heights. When structuring and growing a business, however, it’s important that the structure and growth strategy is based on a sound business sense too. So, a successful entrepreneur needs to be backed by solid skills to hit success.
