Start-up Exhibition organised by IIT-M Incubation Cell to celebrate winners of NEA 2019

IITMIC, the incubation cell of IIT Madras, recently organised a ‘Start-up Exhibition’ to commemorate the winners of the fourth edition of the National Entrepreneurship Award (NEA) 2019, from all over India. The awards had been presented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, with IITMIC as the lead partner for NEA 2019.

The National Entrepreneurship Award is aimed at acknowledging and celebrating young entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders from all over the country, and nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among the future generation.

For the event, the Ministry collaborated 12 leading institutes and organisations, including IIT Madras, the Lead Partner, and IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, NIF, NABARD, TISS, XLRI, NSIC, IRMA, MANAGE, and RSETI.

The institutions were in charge of the nominations and the evaluation process, and received 4,136 applications from various parts of India, such as Manipur, Sikkim, and Meghalaya in the North East, as well as the Andaman and Lakshadweep.

Padma Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Institute Professor at IIT Madras, said, “There is visibly a lot of change in the country, where youngsters are aspiring to become job providers and not job seekers. However, as a start-up founder, your job is of very high responsibility where you are accountable and answerable to your employees. It is key to have a vision and get your team aligned to that vision at every stage of your start-up journey.”
