When it comes to the list of India’s most powerful, it is still agonisingly a man’s world. Just finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Congress president Sonia Gandhi feature in top 20 of the Indian Express’s Top 100 power list.
Sitharaman is at 8th, while Sonia slips from top 10 to 17th after Congress’s rout in the general elections and ensuing gloom.
Firebrand TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has also falen from 6th to 21st spot after the BJP’s stellar show in Bengal.
BJP’s giant killer Smriti Irani has slipped from 39th at 55th spot despite defeating then Congress president Rahul Gandhi from Amethi. while the once-mighty Mayawati is at 73rd place, down from 14.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has had a great fall from 26 to 88. It adds add insult to her injury over Kashmir losing special status under Article 370.
Badminton champion PV Sindhu has broken into the top 100 at the 90th spot, while actors Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone occupy 99th and 100th spots respectively.
