IIM Shillong organises two-day entrepreneurship summit

Emerge, the annual flagship entrepreneurship summit of IIM Shillong, was conducted on February 22nd and 23rd, by E-Cell, the entrepreneurship cell of the institute. This was the eighth edition of Emerge, organised to celebrate and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of managers of the future.

According to an IIM Shillong press release, professor D.P. Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, delivered the opening address, saying, “As a B-School we realize that it is not enough to only develop managers, but entrepreneurs and job providers who are ready to innovate, to grasp the opportunities and remain ready to face the challenges. Entrepreneurship is a mindset.”

Following the inauguration, panel discussions were also held with many renowned entrepreneurs from all over the country on themes like “Hospitality landscape in North East” and “The Young Entrepreneurs”, to help participants learn how to deal with challenges, setbacks, and failures, while leveraging opportunities that come their way.

Speakers at the event included Prashant Rao Aroor, CEO, IintelliStay Hotels, Larsing Ming Sawyan, MD, The Centre Point Group, Soumya Dutta, Founder Hatke Stays, Girish Ahirwar, Serial Entrepreneur, Amit Gautam, CEO & Founder Pasito Industries, Gursakhi Lugani, CEO Nakhrewali, Vandeep Singh, CFO & Strategic Advisor GBFK Fashion, and Ridhinil Roy, CEO NE8X.

A workshop on ‘Essentials for Business Success’ was also conducted by Gunajit Brahma, a national award-winning serial entrepreneur. Participants also included several college students from all over Shillong.

The second day of the event saw a “Best Manager” competition being held, with participants evaluated in a three-phase case analysis, presentation, and interview.
