ICC Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee launched in Odisha by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik

On Wednesday, January 15th, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee (WEC) under the Odisha State Chapter of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. To commemorate the occasion, he also launched the first-ever mega Women’s Leadership Summit, at the same venue.

He said, “I am glad to know that Odisha became the first state to get ICC’s first women committee of the country. This committee is a diverse group of women entrepreneurs from various sectors who can collaborate and grow together. Our government has always given the emphasis on women empowerment through initiatives like Mission Sakhti, StartUp Odisha and Skilled in Odisha. Through Make in Odisha, we also encourage investment in Odisha.”

As many as 40 leading women entrepreneurs from the state were also recognised and felicitated, at the event.

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee has been formed by the ICC in order to efficiently address the growing needs of women entrepreneurs and business leaders, and help them find success.

As such, it is driven by its commitment to the core principles of the ICC – developing and nurturing impactful synergies among industries and the government, by working on and addressing strategic issues that have a country-wide significance. Its core objectives, therefore, include empowerment, education, skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, and business development.

To this end, the Committee aims to be a proactive and progressive body that has a diversified membership base and a dynamic leadership team, both of which work towards combating the many new challenges posed by today’s world.
