First-ever organic food festival to be held in Delhi to promote the sector

India’s first organic food festival is all set to be launched soon, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), it is aimed at helping unleash the massive potential of the country’s organic food sector.

In addition to that, it is aimed at bringing the focus back to the massive contribution of women in the sector.

Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that India’s organic market will grow exponentially in the coming years, and is expected to be valued at Rs 75,000 crore, by 2025.

She said, “With an aim to empower women and promote organic produce, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is organising the national organic festival with a special focus on women entrepreneurs.”

She further added, “Beginning February 21, the first-of-its-kind festival will feature more than 150 women entrepreneurs and self-help groups (SHGs) from all over the country who will exhibit organic products in various segments like fruits and vegetables, ready to eat products, spices and condiments, honey, cereals and dry fruits.”

Through this festival, the Ministry hopes to provide a significant boost to organic products in India, and encourage entrepreneurship in the sector.
