India celebrates National Technology Day 2025 On May 11, with the theme:
“Empowering India Through Inclusive and Sustainable Technology”.
This day offers a powerful moment to reflect on the future of innovation – one that must be inclusive, sustainable & driven by diverse entrepreneurial voices, especially women.

Women Entrepreneurs Powering Inclusive Innovation

While India has earned global recognition for its advancements in defence, IT, agriculture, and space science – a quieter yet equally powerful revolution is happening in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Women entrepreneurs, once under-represented in tech, are now shaping the future through AI-driven startups, green technologies, health-tech platforms, and social innovations. Their rise is not only inspirational but essential for building a resilient and inclusive innovation economy.

Technology:  A Gateway for Women Entrepreneurs

Digital technology has democratized entrepreneurship, lowering barriers to entry and allowing women from rural and urban backgrounds alike to build impactful ventures. From coding bootcamps to AI-powered business tools, access to technology is enabling women to overcome systemic hurdles and scale with speed and precision.

In fact, studies show women-led startups generate 2x more revenue per dollar invested than male-led ones. Yet, despite these achievements, women still face funding gaps, biases, and under-representation in the tech world. Bridging this divide requires intentional support, not just symbolic recognition.

A New Definition of Entrepreneurial Excellence

National Technology Day is no longer just about past milestones – it’s about reimagining excellence for the future. Today’s entrepreneurial excellence is not just about profit margins or market size, but about social impact, ethical responsibility & sustainable innovation. Women entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to lead this charge.

Whether it’s creating health apps for underserved populations, ed-tech platforms for girls, or climate-tech startups that fight pollution and asthma triggers – women are indeed, using technology to solve India’s most pressing challenges.

Empowering Through Policy & Community

The government’s push for digital literacy, combined with corporate and NGO-led initiatives like STEM training, digital skill hubs, and tech incubators for women – is actually fostering a generation of bold women innovators. Programs like Startup India, Digital India, and Women Entrepreneurship Platforms (WEP) offer not just visibility but tangible support systems.

A Roadmap for the Future

So, as we mark National Technology Day 2025, let’s amplify the call for inclusive innovation. The vision for a technologically self-reliant India must include equitable access to tools, funding, mentorship & markets – especially for women.

Because when women build in tech, they don’t just create apps or devices – they create pathways to dignity, sustainability & collective progress. So, it is a call to empower India through inclusive and sustainable technology
