DMIMS conducts lecture session for women entrepreneurs

Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS deemed university) recently organised a special session on entrepreneurship for women students, aimed at improving awareness and empowering them to pursue business ventures. Held on December 11, the expert lecture was titled ‘Empowering Women — Orientation on Women Entrepreneurship’.

Anita Rao, the joint secretary of the Entrepreneurship Cell at Vidarbha Industries Association, was part of the guest faculty for the event, which is the first in a series of talks and expert lectures being set up to support potential female entrepreneurs.

As recognition of its efforts, DMIMS has been awarded an EU funded Erasmus + project ‘ENPRENDIA’, which aims at strengthening women entrepreneurship in India. The highly interactive lecture session was a huge success, with over 300 students in attendance, from a number of faculties, including medicine, dentistry and Ayurveda.

Rao also shared a number of personal experiences from her own entrepreneurial journey, which captured the interest of the young audience.

The planning and execution committee for the event was made up of Dr Srihari Sheshagiri, Dr Seema Singh, Dr NilimaThosar, and Dr Ashish Anjankar. Rajiv Yashroy, Director of DMIMS (International Initiatives & Strategic Planning), headed the team. Also the project manager for the initiative, Yashroy welcomed and felicitated Rao as the guest speaker for the event.

Dr. Srihari Shesha Giri acted as a compère for the programme, introducing the speaker, Dr. NilimaThosar, by proposing a vote of thanks.
