The pandemic may have restricted our activities, but this festive season, is witnessing a new wave. Indians are lapping up beauty products as the festivities ring in, with cosmetics startups looking at a sharp spike in sales. Makeup products for eyes and nails, that will highlight looks during the Diwali setting, have picked up sales.
“Self-improvement, in terms of beauty and wellness, has emerged as a key trend in the last few months. The festive season has further accelerated this trend,” said Sreedhar Prasad, internet business expert and former partner at KPMG. Volume spiked three times, during its six-day Diwali sale in September for Purplle.com, an online beauty store; and it was noticed that 70% orders coming from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
