Tamil Nadu is betting big on women – both in terms of entrepreneurship as well as manufacturing muscle – to achieve its target of a $1 trillion economy. Already the state accounts for 42% of women working in factories nationally; and its percentage of working in the work force is above the national average at 35% in rural areas and 23% to 25% in urban areas.
