MSDE Launches Swavalambini Women Entrepreneurship Programme to Empower 1200 Young Women Across Five States

In a major step towards women-led economic empowerment under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched the Swavalambini Women Entrepreneurship Programme in collaboration with NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform. The initiative, rolled out in February 2025, is currently being piloted across six Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and Universities in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana. The programme is being implemented through MSDE’s autonomous institutions—National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida, and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati—with the aim of nurturing entrepreneurial mindset among 1,200 female students.
