Biz-Sakhi to focus on increasing entrepreneurship among women

The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) has launched a Biz-Sakhi curriculum, with training materials for certifying Business Sakhis as Community Mentors, to promote entrepreneurship among women.

The curriculum as been jointly developed by UNDP, TISS, NIESBUD, and NIRDPR. It consists of two components – one, the psycho-social aspects of mentorship that is needed for women to start enterprises, and two, the business support mentorship.

NIESBUD under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, and NIRDPR under Ministry of Rural Development, will certify such community mentors through accredited master trainers. NIESBUD is a premier organization of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, engaged in training, consultancy, research, and more, in order to promote entrepreneurship and Skill Development.

Major Focus Areas include creating a holistic environment to support entrepreneurship and skill development within the Institute. It will also evaluate and revise the training programmes sponsored by NIESBUD, so as to fit in with the internal and external environmental changes, with respect to entrepreneurship and small business development.

The institute is actively engaged in creating a positive image among the general public on entrepreneurship and eliminating the misconceptions related to it. This will help in disseminating the information on entrepreneurship and skill development fruitfully.

The various employment generation schemes by the Government are aimed at creating training aids materials and organising training for budding entrepreneurs to achieve challenging goals.

Keeping in tune with the changing macro and micro-environment, with respect to government policies, the institute, through its concerted efforts, has been able to achieve and sustain financial self-sufficiency through organising various programmes, enhancing the conduct of market-driven fee-based training activities, and increasing the sales of training materials.

The Institute has provision for highly qualified faculties and experienced professionals with specialisation in multidimensional aspects related to Entrepreneurial Competency & Motivation, Project Identification & Formulation, Finance and Credit, Small Enterprise Management, Women Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property Rights, Marketing Management & Entrepreneurial Education, E-Learning Modules, and more.

It also provides handholding and post-training support for bridging the gap between employers and job seekers, to help them set up their enterprises.
