In a big step to encourage entrepreneurship among young graduates, especially women, Union human resource development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched a spate of initiatives in New Delhi on September 18.
The initiatives launched under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) included facilitation through Margadarshan and Margadarshak, Model Curriculum for diploma courses, Waste Management Accelerator for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs (WAWE Summit 2019) and a 360-degree feedback of faculty.
“WAWE Summit 2019 is a great initiative because women have skills in their hands and it will further empower and motivate them,” Pokhriyal said. The summit would be the largest gathering of young women students to promote entrepreneurship in waste management and providing alternatives to single use plastic carry bags.
The Union minister said the WAWE Summit would be organised in November-December this year. It would be a joint endeavour of AICTE and Institute of Waste Management (IIWM) in Jaipur.
Through the Margadarshan and Margadarshak schemes, topmost institutions would mentor other institutions, so that they can improve their rankings and follow best practices of the mentor institute. The schemes are aimed at providing students with the best education to keep them abreast with the rapidly evolving times.
This conclave would be part of a series of initiatives to fire up the spirit of entrepreneurship among young graduates.
“We need to be at the top in world rankings and the path to take our technical education to the top is made easier through such initiatives. It is necessary to create new courses to prepare students for better understanding in this competitive age and, model curriculum for diploma courses is an effort in this direction,” Pokhriyal said.
