The Women Empowerment Vertical of The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI WE), a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship, trade and business across BRICS+ and partner countries has launched a ground-breaking initiative – BRICS CCI WE WISE – Women in Innovation, Science & Entrepreneurship, during the prestigious BRICS Women Business Alliance (WBA) Annual Plenary in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
From Rio to the World: BRICS CCI WE’s WISE Sets the Stage for Inclusive Innovation
WISE is designed to be a transformative platform that brings together ecosystem partners, thought leaders, and changemakers across BRICS+ nations to accelerate gender equity in STEM and entrepreneurship, with a strategic focus on emerging technologies like AI and sustainable innovation.
Igniting a Global Movement for Women in Tech & Enterprise
This initiative is built on three strong pillars: Innovation & Collaboration, Access to Funding, and Policy Advocacy — with the goal of fostering a more inclusive, empowered, and forward-thinking global economy. Through WISE, BRICS CCI WE aims to create a vibrant knowledge-sharing ecosystem that connects women with mentors, experts, and funding opportunities — and drives policy shifts that enable women to lead in tech and enterprise.
As a milestone step, BRICS CCI WE also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Brazilian Chapter of the WBA to co-create pathways for sustainable economic development and gender equity.
With WISE, the future is not just female — it’s innovative, inclusive, and international.
The Global Advisory Board of WISE includes Amb. Sanjay Bhattacharyya (Retd.), Former BRICS Sherpa and Secretary to Govt. of India; Ms. Monica Monteiro, Chairperson, BRICS WBA Brazilian Chapter; Ms. Lebogang Zulu, Chairperson, BRICS WBA South Africa, Dr. BBL Madhukar, Director General BRICS CCI, Ms. Ruby Sinha, President, BRICS CCI WE, Mr. Sanjeeva Shivesh, Co-founder, Think Startup and Ms. Monica Maghami, Regulatory, AI, Tech & Sustainability Lawyer. Partner organisations include names like Mulheres Inspiradoras, SKOLKOVO Women’s Forum sheatwork, FORE Centre for Political Leadership and Governance (FCPLG) and others.
Commenting on the exclusive move ahead, Ms. Ruby Sinha, President, BRICS CCI WE and Programme Lead, BRICS CCI WE WISE said: “A global initiative, BRICS CCI WE WISE brings together mentors, experts and innovators from around the world, to build a knowledge repository and a collaborative community that uplifts women fostering inclusive economic growth and sustainable innovation, across the BRICS+ nations. It also aims to identify systemic and regulatory challenges while advocating for enabling policies and reforms across BRICS+ countries to promote women’s full participation in innovation and enterprise.”
