Celebrating Teachers on Teacher’s Day

September 5 is an important day in India, as we have been celebrating Teacher’s Day on this day, since 1962. The day commemorates the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan, the former President of India, who was a philosopher and a teacher par excellence. And, his  contribution towards the Indian education system is immense.

The background to this celebrated day, is that he had commented, “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege, if September 5 is observed as Teacher’s Day”. From then onwards, September 5 has been observed as Teacher’s Day! Therefore, it is pertinent that on this day, we pay tribute to the great educationist. Apart from this, we also honour all the teachers who have filled our lives with knowledge.

Talking about teachers and celebrating the joys of teaching, when it comes to entrepreneurs, do we attach teaching or training to their run-up to entrepreneurship? The popular view of a successful entrepreneur is someone with a big vision, and a focused determination to reach his or her goals. One element that is often overlooked is the need for the entrepreneur to pursue constant learning – to be uptodated with the evolving industry.

Today, there are many courses that equip entrepreneurs with the right the tools and, there are  e-learning courses available too.

Training for job seekers or job makers?

Many people feel that career training is an option only for job seekers – who want jobs.  They feel it is not so for job makers.

Entrepreneurs sometimes pass over this educational path – ie training. Their own knowledge and creativity, they feel strongly, will lead them to success. This may be largely true, but career training actually equips you with the ability to comprehend and support the function of running a business. So, armed with these skills, new business owners are much more likely to succeed.

Business fundamentals is key

What exactly is needed to become a successful business person? Career training provides entrepreneurs with the skills they need to not just perform the activities needed for their business, but to lead it. In any type of business, there are standard management and financial practices, and having a thorough understanding of these can be beneficial in any field or industry.

There is a wide scope of knowledge that career training can provide, including:

  • Successfully leveraging finance options
  • How to manage your cash flow
  • Hiring suitable employees
  • Properly managing and guiding the team

Promoting growth and success, in the long run

Looking at the big picture is an important aspect of being an entrepreneur. In addition to the core functions of your business, you need to think about how you can grow your company. If  career training supports an entrepreneur, then it allows him or her to visualize the future potential of your organization and take the necessary steps to get there.

Figuring out finances, establishing marketing strategies and considering staffing options – are all important aspects of business ownership. By having a thorough understanding of these topics through training, can help you spend more time focusing on ensuring that the core functions of your business match the standards you have set. This can also mean – planning for new services or product lines, and that can expand your business.

Thus career training can be a valuable asset for any entrepreneur. Besides industry knowledge, having the skills to manage and grow your business is a must-have, if you plan to expand your business in the future.

So, here’s three cheers to training, and the teachers who are the force behind that!
