The Rajasthan government has launched a Rs 1,000-crore fund for the empowerment of women. The fund, called the ‘Indira Mahila Shakti Nidhi’, aims to empower women through various state government schemes, including the grant of loans up to Rs 1 crore to women self-help groups.
Speaking about the scheme during an event in New Delhi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot assured that his government would not leave any stone unturned to empower women, PTI reported.
The fund was announced by Gehlot during the last budget session in the state Assembly.
“Whether it is taking the family forward or the society, we must emphasise on education and empowerment of women,” Gehlot added.
The chief minister pointed towards a collective responsibility to “provide education to girls, save daughters and abolish female foeticide”. He said that though the government has introduced many laws in this regard, laws are not enough. He called on the society to come forward.
