Dr R Nageswar Rao, the Head of the Department of Business Management and Director of IQAC, Osmania University, addressed the inaugural session of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) at Warangal. In his speech, he applauded the increasing awareness among governments and local communities all over the world, regarding the critical need for fostering entrepreneurship in order to build prosperity and stimulate regional growth.
The event was sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, and hosted by the SR Engineering College (SREC). Speaking to the aspiring entrepreneurs, he said that entrepreneurship has today become an extremely popular and interesting pursuit among young research scholars. As a result, it is also one of the focus areas for the government right now, since the market for the yet under-explored domain is currently undergoing a significant transformation.
Dr Rao said, “Entrepreneurship is seen as a channel for the talents of educated young people to explore their potential and cash their business acumen.”
Dr Suman Naredla, chief programme coordinator, said, “There are certain skills that need to be honed. Entrepreneurship development programmes do exactly that. The skills that are required to run a business successfully, is developed among aspiring entrepreneurs through such programmes.”
Dr CV Gururao, Director, added that the programme aims to provide training in the essentials of conceiving, planning, initiating and launching an economic activity or an enterprise successfully, to the S&T graduates and the diploma holders. The programme offers a gamut of services, including class room training on the essentials of entrepreneurship, surveys of the prevalent socio – economic scenario, identification of business opportunities, role and function as well as schemes of assistance offered by several constituents of the support system, preparation of a technically feasible and economically viable project report, Achievement Motivation Training, and also the nuances of managing an enterprise. In addition, it also offers sessions in technology and finance, on a project to project basis.
MM Irfan, the EDP Coordinator, said that as many as 30 science and technology graduates, particularly from Warangal, have registered for the event. It will train them in the fundamentals of concepts like entrepreneurship and startups. Other attendees included Dr Ram Deshmukh, B Girirajan, V Srinivas, Vinay and Madhu, and more.
