Despite the traditional challenges that women entrepreneurs face (such as limited access to funding and mentorship) Alabama’s enterprising women have persevered, supported by initiatives such as – the Alabama Women’s Business Center and Innovate Alabama. These organizations provide essential resources, including business training, networking & capital access – helping women turn their ideas into thriving enterprises.

Cori Fain-Forrest, Founder, Moxi is an experienced social impact leader & working mom and has led the way in tackling the country’s growing childcare crisis. What is the process? Using Moxi’s mobile app, parents can seamlessly book and pay for childcare through Moxi’s membership-based network of childcare centers that offer on-demand care. The facility has many options – parents aren’t locked into a single childcare center; they can pay for care as needed, be it one day or a year at a time.

She strongly feels that the time has come to bring innovation & investment to the work that is so important.

Today, in the expanding field of scientific research, organizations spend an enormous amount of time, money and effort reviewing scientific assets – including papers, proposals and raw data.

It was to help solve this, that the SymbyAI team thought of developing a tool that utilizes AI to automate the review process and provide comprehensive insights on the work itself. Thus, SymbyAI two was started as a simple application – for providing insights about scientific fields via new research paper releases.

So, Ashia Livaudais, Co-Founder and CEO, SymbyAI leveraged her expertise in AI and research background.

It was basically to address this issue, that Khaylah Epps founded OMA Health – a health-tech platform that aims help Black women achieve a higher standard of health outcomes by: providing tailored solutions designed specifically for Black women, connecting patients with physicians and pharmacists who understand their unique needs & improving access to quality care for Black women.

As they move ahead, they are looking forward to leveraging the program – to further advance their mission of improving healthcare access for Black women in Alabama and beyond.

> Shan Warren, Founder & CEO, Shan Latris

Founded by Alabama-based fashion designer Shan Warren, the speciality of Shan Latris is that it is a womenswear brand – that provides height-inclusive, creative fashion options for the modern-day girl-boss.

Shan Warren, Founder & CEO, Shan Latris admits that their goal is to provide head- turning designs that still fit the aesthetic of a girl-boss throughout life’s activities, whether it’s a networking event or brunch with the girls.

Her strong belief is that – one of the best ways to look empowered is a proper fit!

> Kimberly Cornner, Founder & CEO, Kimmie Stylz

Founded in 2017, Kimmie Stylz is a line of hair-care products designed by Kimberly Cornner, Founder & CEO, who is a natural hair care stylist for 15+ years. Her goal was – to create quality hair-care products and educate others on how hair-care can positively influence an individual’s self-esteem, confidence, health & more.

She felt that this was a huge issue in their community. Plus the story behind is that –  when her four-year-old daughter told her that her hair wasn’t pretty without extensions and that she didn’t want anyone to see it! She felt very sad, and admitted – “it broke my heart to realize I was instilling insecurities in her!” And from that moment, she took a pledge  – to start wearing and caring for her natural hair.

Kimmie Stylz hair care products are designed for diverse, textured hair using natural ingredients to detangle, moisturize and hydrate for healthier hair growth. Her products are safe for children & cruelty-free too.

> Betty Patten, Trent Kocurek & Adam Aldrich – Equip, Co- founders, Equip

Co-founded by Trent Kocurek, Betty Patten and Adam Aldrich – Equip is an app-based platform that tailors technology to the unique needs of the neuro-divergent community –  including individuals with Autism, ADHD, IDD and others who experience the world differently.

Today, it is seen that life is stretched to the limit; and organizing a life filled with appointments, routines and essential communication is indeed difficult and it becomes a continuous challenge!! It’s not just about managing tasks but nurturing the autonomy and connection everyone deserves.

For families this has been tough. And they were in search of a lifeline – a tool that transforms this complex juggle into a harmonious cycle – that enables their loved ones to embrace the quality of life and independence they deeply deserve. And, Equip was designed to be that solution.
