The year 2020 was unexpected, unprecedented for the start-up ecosystem in India. The impact of the pandemic and the 70-day lockdown was varied – many startups had a tough time and 15% of India’s 40,000 startups finally had to close down. Interestingly, it has also been highlighted by sheer resilience and reinvention; and for many digital and digitally enabled startups, it was marked by exceptional growth. In fact, startups that survive this crisis will have a larger opportunity in digital economy.
